EVEN if the venue was not jampacked (as his detractors allege), Mark Bautista still gave an inspired performance at his “Simply Irresistible” concert held Saturday night at the Aliw Theater.

The Asia’s Songbird Ms. Regine Velasquez made a special surprise appearance in Mark’s concert and he was simply overwhelmed by Regine’s gesture that he was nearly in tears when Ogie Alcasid’s special someone made her entry onstage.

Other celebrities who came to watch the show were Piolo Pascual, Rica Peralejo, Erik Santos, Jed Madella and director Joyce Bernal.

Faith Cuneta was Mark’s first guest. They sang “Kasalanan Ko Ba?” Then Faith did her solo number “Come What May.”

After Mark did another song number, Rachelle Ann Go came up next. She did the song “These Dreams” with Mark then Rachelle followed this up with a medley of ‘From The Start,” “Bakit,” “I Can Make It Through the Rain,” and “Don’t Cry Out Loud” for her spot number. This earned thunderous applause from the crowd.

When Mark returned onstage, he did two standards, songs he usually did when he was still a member of a show band. These were “Who Can I Turn To” and “What Kind of Fool Am I,” (this had a portion where Mark did a duet with himself on a video screen).

After this came another guest, new Viva Records artist Mikki Han, who did a duet with Mark.

Bossa nova queen Sitti came up next. She did her hit single titled “Ikaw Lamang” then she did “Blue Moon” in a duet with the Pop Heartthrob.

Mark then did a medley of OPM hit songs like “Ayoko Na Sana,” “Ikaw Lang,” “Gusto Kita” and “Why Can’t It Be.”

Also doing a guest was John “Sweet” Lapus who did a very funny spoof as he pretended to be the blind date of Mark. Then they sang “Dodong Charing.”

Mark’s evolution as a singer will not be complete without Sarah Geronimo.

“Dalaga na si Sarah,”joked Mark sa singer and added that he hopes Sarah won’t call her Kuya. While they were doing their duet, Mark and Sarah were holding hands, prompting Sarah to say, “Pagagalitan ako ni Mommy niyan.”

We believe ABS-CBN should continue to build up the tandem of Mark and Sarah as the fans love them. When Mark gave Sarah a kiss on her cheek, the crowd was delirious with excitement and cheered loudly.

After Sarah’s number then came Regine who did “Umagang Kay Ganda” in a duet with Mark. When the crowd asked for more, Asia’s Songbird sang “Dadalhin” and the fans sang along with her

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Diyos for all the blessings He has given me. Sana suportahan ninyo pa rin ako at nag-enjoy pa rin kayo sa mga songs ko,” said Mark to thank the crowd. For the finale, he sung his hit single “I Need You” and for his encore he sung the hit song “Suicidal.”
